A cluster of dark wooden cabins on a snowy plain beneath white mountains and a clear blue sky

Chapter 01Longyearbyen, Svalbard

Svalbard

Seventy-Eight Degrees North

A week in the world's northernmost town, where wooden cabins wait out the dark and spring arrives as light pouring back over the mountains.

(01)

The premise

Far Meridian is a travel journal shot like a film. We go slow, wait for the light, and come home with the stories that never fit on a postcard.

  • Go slow

Weeks, not weekends. We stay long enough to learn the rhythm of a place, and leave before we wear out our welcome.

  • Wait for the light

Every story is shot at the edges of the day, when the world turns gold, blue or impossibly pink.

  • Tell it true

Each chapter ends with field notes: when to go, how to get there and what we would do differently.

(02)The journal

Stories from the edge of the map.

6 chapters so far, each one shot slowly and written to be lived in. Pick a frame and step inside.

(03)

The places

Every name is a story. Pick one.

A lone traveller stands on a rocky summit above layers of misty mountains at sunrise
Some places you visit.Others quietlyrewrite you.
Field note, written somewhere past the last road
Two hikers climb a snowy ridge toward the sun, high above a sea of clouds
Frame 07Somewhere above the clouds
(04)Dispatches

Postcards from the far side of the map.

One letter a month, usually written somewhere with terrible wifi. No noise and no algorithm, just the road.

  • The newest story, the day it lands
  • The frames that never made the final cut
  • A short note on where we are heading next
